Saturday 24 August 2013
Museums, Wegman, Festival, and Homestay
The day started in National Museum of Play. Many collections of toys, dolls, books, and games. There was this old rich lady who used to own all those collections and gather it all to become this museum.
Moved on to Wegman, the biggest retail market that sells mostly organic products. All the foods look not only delicious but also healthy :-9 The store manager explains to us a bit about the history
We continued to Rochester Museum & Science Center. I didn’t come in to the museum coz I had enuff in Smithsonian :)) So I just sit outside, reading book and listen to Incognito from my XZ.
Then this very lovely lady named Kim came to pick me up. She’s the host of my homestay experience. At first glance I thought she’s 40s but in fact, she’s 57! Her first son is 37 and the fourth is 21 and she already has 4 grandchildren!
As per my special request, we stopped by at Greek Festival ^.^ How happy I am, because I love Greece and really wish to visit it one day. The festival was located in Greek Orthodox Church that is sooo beautiful inside. There’s this pretty Greece lady who explains us thoroughly about the church. On the other floor there’s a book sale, fashion sale, and food stalls. Love the ambiance!
Kim drove me & another delegate to her apartment and we prepared dinner. She’s been living a very healthy life, she only eat meat once a year: on thanksgiving day. That evening she cooked baked salmon with salad and red rice. We toast a glass of wine and had girls talk during dinner. It was lovely.
After dinner she drove us to High Fall for laser show. Unfortunately, it appears that the show is no longer continue so there was nothing to see. But on the resto nearby, there’s a wedding ceremony so we got a chance to have a glance on Americans way of marriage party. It was intimate with only few close friends & relatives. My kind of dream wedding, after travel wedding. Well. Anyway. #abaikan :p
We went back to apartment and fell asleep fast like a baby in her cozy guest bedroom :)
Cheers,
