Another mom just confessed she has been depressed and has been thru many kinds of consultations & medications. It’s been going on seriously for years.
I wouldn’t know if she doesn’t tell. She wouldn’t tell if I didn’t share. She feels very much relieved that finally she found someone to share the burden she’s been hiding.
The thing about being depressed is, not everyone could and would understand, let alone be empathy. Most common reaction is to say, “Don’t worry about that. You are fine.” Which is not.
Other people would even be mean by giving judgement: “You are strong, don’t be self-pity, stop victimized yourself.” Which will only trigger depressives to be more depressed.
If you can’t help them, please, the least you can do is don’t judge them.
