Another dream came true to see my one and only entertainer idol Michael Bublé live in concert in my hometown, Jakarta last January 27th 2015. I’ve been waiting this for so long, after a cancellation of the concert plan here 10 years ago.
I was about to watch him in Singapore in 2011, but couldn’t manage the schedule because I had to catch flight to Dublin. I was planning to watch his show in London on summer 2013, but I got a better chance: caught him in Chicago showa day after my bday during my #USTrip :))
It was the best birthday present ever!
And I was so lucky that I got the ticket with a very good price: only $110 for a very good position in section 6, which is on the center between stage 1 and stage 2. It’s like Platinum in Jakarta, and the price is almost 5 times more expensive here! (Around $470) I read from Jakarta Post today that Bublé’s real concern having concert here was not about security issue, but about the slow ticket sales compared to US or Europe. Now he should’ve known why.
I just couldn’t get enuff of Bublé. I spent countless nights crawling Youtube to watch his interview & concert videos, all are very entertaining. I bought his photo-biography book when I was in Las Vegas. I wrote a paper analyzing his career journey for my magister study.
But my fondness of him is nothing compared to my lovely friends in Michael Buble Fan Club Indonesia aka BublettesID. We’re connected through social media, get closer via whatsapp group, and had meetups. The group admin Mentari is extremely helpful!
They waited for hours in the airport to welcome him, only to find out later that he arrived at different airport with private jet. They stalked every band personnel to find out where they’re staying. They had breakfast in the hotel and happy enuff to have a pic with his wife or team. They followed him to the airport and got him walking in with the whole family. Etc.
How was the concert going? Awesome! Really entertaining, as a truly entertainer he is. A huge hall full of thousands of people singing and dancing and laughing together, it’s just amazing.
Although I must say, I can’t help but notice that he looked a bit exhausted. Which is understandable, because the Asia tour schedule is so packed. On some of upbeat songs, he missed tempo & pitch. But on slow songs he delivered it just perfect with his nasal yet manly bass voice.
The best part of the show for me was when he returned for encore and sang Cry Me a River and Save the Last Dance. To top it off, he closed the show with his magical voice singing Song For You without mic :)
Joke of the day was when he jokingly said no camera but then and added, “You think I’m crazy to take cameras from Asian people?” LOL!
Yeah, when I watched him in Chicago, I held myself from recording because none of the audience around me were even holding gadget when he was singing. But here, everybody was busy recording, including me :p
