I never wished to visit Malaysia. I couldnt find any interesting place to go or do whatsoever there. Besides, I heard too many stories about how bad they treat Indonesians. Now I happened to be in Malaysia to accompany my hubby speaking in Asia e-Commerce Conference 2011, and hope that this visit could change my point of view.
We arrived in Kuala Lumpur at 2am last night, and stay in The Gardens Hotel & Residence. It’s nice & quite new, love the interior design with lotsa drawers & sleek see-through bathroom ^.^
In the morning, while hubby was doing his job, I had breakfast in the resto and then walked around the hotel. Surprisingly it’s connected directly to The Gardens Mall, just like Kempinski and Grand Indonesia.
But since I spent my daily job in mall, it all looked similar. All the same brands: Versace, Louis Vuitton, Kate Spade, Channel, Guess, La Senza, Massimo Dutti, Hugo Boss, Burberry, Tod’s, you name it. But at least, I got something to do instead of sleeping in hotel room =p
Oh, I tried a nice hot plate kweetiaw with mushroom & chicken in the foodcourt. It costs 7.2 MYR. The kweetiaw is so so but the kari tastes soooo good!
At 5pm hubby introduced me to a very humble guy he met in the conference. He took us to Twin Tower and hang around the city by his X5 & driver. He’s only 37 but I can tell he acts & thinks much wiser than his age. No wonder at the age of 26 he already became the CEO of a listed company.
He also introduced us to his BMW motorclub mate who is also successful in banking business. He’s flying to Jakarta tomorrow for only one day, as he’s managing auto finance of one of the biggest banks in Indonesia. He’s such a warm guy and likes to tell funny stories. We had coffe and fishcake in a cafe.
We then split, the first guy back to office and his driver took us to hotel. He command the driver to take me anywhere I wanna go tomorrow and even will send his female staff to accompany me shopping! He said dont worry, I’m in a good hand, the driver is trustworthy and used to drive for a minister family before working for him.
Thanks to those gentlemen, my opinion about Malaysia now is not that bad…=)
