2011 Highlights

Let’s see the highlights of my life in 2011…

January
One cause leads to another. Natali was interviewed by Globe Asia about #Startuplokal. An Irish gentleman read it, search Natali’s profile on linkedin, and insisted to meet Natali. We then met the Irish gentlemen at 11pm in Kempinski. To our surprise, they invited us to visit Ireland to see how startup industry grows there!

February
I was offered to manage community & social media for Indonesian fashion & lifestyle online magazine, Fimela.com. It’s a startup built by Ben Soebiakto in collaboration with Ibu Dian Muljadi. At the same time, my husband’s partner also offered me to manage PR for his startup. I chose Fimela because I’m into it ever since Kevin Mintaraga sounded the idea previously over a dinner with close friends.

March
Started my first day in Fimela, and a week later started my journey to Ireland! It was a wonderful experience, never thought we could have been that far before. We learned a lot from Enterprise Ireland about startup industry and incubation, as well as enjoying the beautiful scenery of Ireland, just like in PS I Love You!

April
#Startuplokal 1st Anniversary went great, though it was prepared with such limitation of time, manpower and budget. It was covered by several printed & online media. Though it involves so many drama, but we can get through it very well.

May
Our wedding anniversary was simply celebrated by having dinner in Ninety-Nine resto, just the two of us (of course!). I often read that the first 5-7 year of marriage is the worst, and whoever can pass it can get through the other years much easier. I can say that it’s quite true. On our first years we experienced lots of ups and downs. There were times that I felt so down and want to give up, but thanks God we survived up to now and getting better. It’s through the learning process that we become more understanding and responsible to what we do.

June
Fimela.com won Bubu Award for News & Entertainment Category! And #Startuplokal coverage was in Kompas newspaper front page! How cool is that =) We also went to Singapore for Echelon with all #Startuplokal initiators and associates, and brought kids and their grandmoms to Universal Studio Singapore. All of us were having fun!

July
We made our first startups accelerator named Project Eden ! It’s a collaborative project between Jardin Tech, Startuplokal, and Proficio. We held our first pitching session in #Startuplokal Meetup during PPPKI event in JCC Assembly Hall. In the same month, Natali was asked to be a speaker with Ministry of Trade Mrs. Mari Elka Pangestu and Director of GEPI Mr. Christ Kanter. Stil in July, our little daughter Vica had her first day in playgroup. Our brother Bayu married. And Fimela had housewarming.

August
More exposure about #Startuplokal and its initiators (hehe). We were featured in Kompas.com and several magazines. We also held #Startuplokal special edition for women titled Female Founders which was successfully attended by hundreds of women in @atamerica. In the same month, me & Natali had another honeymoon in Bali while attending Kevin Osmond & Grace’s wedding party in Ubud.

September
My birthday! Welcome to 30ish club >.< I feel.. mature. Remembering my age and comparing to several achievements, I feel blessed. Having a happy family, responsible husband, cute kids, wealthy life… How could I not be thankful?

October
First experience visiting Malaysia, a country I never wished to visit :) Fortunately everything went well, not really impressive, but thanks God we met this very kind and nice person in Kuala Lumpur who treated us like prince & princess. He spontaneously provided us with luxury car & driver and event sent us an assistant to accompany me shopping! Hope to meet this charming man again in Jakarta :)

November
Celebrating its 1st anniversary, Fimela.com held the first Fimela Festival on 25-27 Nov 2011. It’s a 3-days of women empowering & lifestyle experience along Level One Project, Grand Indonesia. There event was a blast, the team were all out preparing everything, and we closed it with an after party in Social House. My hubby & kids were accompanying me during the event, and we stayed in a nice serviced apartment, Morrissey for 2 nights. On 30 Nov, my hubby and his team finally launched Tiket.com , an online ticketing solution. This could be the most under pressure month of the year for both of us.

December
I loooooveee December! First, because it’s Christmas. Love the ambiance, the songs, the festive atmosphere everywhere. Second reason, because it’s hubby’s birthday. I made this simple present and gave special present (I’m not gonna tell ya :p). And third, of course because end of year and lots of holiday! We watch movies a lot, eat a lot, and have fun a lot ^.^

Now, let’s welcome 2012 !
